B777 Tools — Privacy Policy
Effective 25 October 2026
Summary
B777 Tools is for a closed group of crew members. To open it you need an account: the app keeps your name, e-mail address and an account number so that access can be granted and withdrawn, and the crew reports you choose to post. Nothing else about you is collected, and nothing is shared, sold or used for advertising.
Your account
- When you ask for access, the app sends your full name, your e-mail address and the password you choose to Google Firebase, which stores the account for us. The password is held by Firebase in protected form; we cannot read it.
- Firebase gives the account a number (user ID). Your name, e-mail address, user ID, the date of the request and its status (waiting, approved, declined or removed) are kept in a Firebase database.
- Only the person who runs B777 Tools can see the list of requests, to approve or remove them. Nobody else can read it.
- Crew notes and crew reports: when you post a crew report about an airport, its text, the airport, your name, your user ID and the times it was posted and expires are kept in the Firebase database. Every approved member can read it until it expires (24 hours or 7 days, as you choose); it is then no longer shown. You or the app owner can delete it at any time. You can report another member's report to the app owner, or hide that member's reports on your device.
- The app checks your access with Firebase when it opens, at most once an hour. Like any internet request, Firebase sees the address of the device.
- You can delete your account and your request at any time: Aa → Account → Delete my account. You can also ask by e-mail.
- Firebase is a Google service; its handling of the data is described at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
What the app does with data
- Everything except the Live tab and the Home summary works offline. They download public aviation data (NAT tracks and NOTAMs from the FAA; METAR, TAF, SIGMET, AIREP and space weather from NOAA; conflict zone bulletins from EASA). These requests carry no personal data; like any internet request, the servers see the address of the device.
- The last copy of the downloaded data is kept on the device so it can be read without a connection.
- Route Check can open a flight plan PDF that you choose or share to the app. It is read on the device only: the app keeps, on the device, the route (waypoints and their positions, FIRs, airways and alternates) and the flight brief (schedule, fuel, weights, MEL items and dispatch remarks) until the next flight plan replaces it — nothing about the crew or the aircraft registration — and sends nothing from it anywhere, except that, when you are signed in to iCloud, the next flight is also kept in your own iCloud so that your iPhone and iPad show the same flight. The developer has no access to your iCloud. Waypoint positions read from it are remembered on the device to draw later routes.
- To place navigation aids on the map, the app downloads a public list of their positions (OurAirports) and approximate FIR boundaries (VATSpy data project) once a month. These requests carry no personal data.
- ATC to Text uses the microphone only while you press LISTEN, and turns speech into text with the device's own speech recognition. On devices that support it, this happens entirely on the device; on older devices iOS may send the audio to Apple to recognise it, under Apple's privacy policy. Nothing is recorded, and the text is kept only while the page is open.
- It has no analytics, no advertising and no third-party software; Firebase is reached only through its web interface for the account.
- The numbers and reports you type are used on your device to show a result. Some are remembered on the device so the calculators open where you left them; they never leave the device.
- Your quiz answers and scores are kept only on your device.
- The app remembers its settings on your device, such as the text size and appearance.
- Pasting a report uses the system Paste button, so the app only receives the clipboard when you tap it.
Children
The app is a reference tool for airline pilots and is not meant for children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date.
